Tinubu, AbdulRazaq praised as new Army battalion begins operations in Kwara

Traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents of Kwara State's Irepodun Local Government Area have commended President Bola Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for establishing a new Nigerian Army battalion in Omu-Aran. Stakeholders believe the deployment will significantly bolster security in Kwara South and improve the protection of local communities.

The new battalion, commanded by Lt.-Col. Kehinde Avoseh, was officially welcomed by residents during a reception. The Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba AbdulRaheem Adeoti, pledged the community's unwavering support for the troops, assuring them of a peaceful and hospitable environment. "I want to assure you that our support, especially in terms of the welfare of the battalion, will be 100 per cent, by the grace of God. You will enjoy your stay in Omu-Aran," Adeoti stated.

Community leaders, including the Chairman of Irepodun Local Government, Abdulazeez Yakub, and the President of the Omu-Aran Development Association, Prince Niyi Adeyeye, echoed the sentiment, promising full cooperation and highlighting the military presence as a key factor for security and progress in the region. A retired military officer, Lasisi Abidoye, also expressed gratitude to the federal and state governments for their support in establishing the battalion.

Brig. Gen. Nicholas Rume, Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, thanked the community for their warm reception. He explained that the deployment is part of the Federal Government's broader strategy to expand the Nigerian Army's operational capacity nationwide.
