Tinubu Welcomes Rescue Of 308 Abducted Citizens In Kwara, Niger

President Bola Tinubu has celebrated the successful rescue of 308 Nigerian citizens who had been abducted in separate incidents in Niger and Kwara states. The operation, a coordinated intelligence-driven effort by the National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC) with personnel from the Armed Forces, Department of State Services (DSS), and Nigeria Police Force, resulted in the recovery of victims from the Kainji Lake National Park Forest.

This rescue mission marks the largest single-day operation ever carried out by the joint security team. Of the 308 rescued individuals, 163 were abducted from Woro Community in Kwara State, and 145 from Niger State. President Tinubu expressed his deep gratitude to the security agencies for their bravery, collaboration, and dedication, stating, "The successful execution of this intelligence-led operation demonstrates the growing efficiency and collaboration among our security services."

Following the successful recovery, the rescued citizens are receiving medical attention and first aid at the Wawa Cantonment. After medical evaluations, they will be handed over to their respective state governments for care and reunification with their families. President Tinubu emphasized the need to bolster national security infrastructure, directing agencies to enhance early warning mechanisms, improve community intelligence gathering, and strengthen rapid response capabilities to avert similar incidents nationwide. He reiterated his administration's commitment to eliminating security threats and restoring peace across the country.
