Tokayev sends telegram to President of Kyrgyzstan

Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev sent a congratulatory telegram to Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Japarov for the 35th anniversary of Kyrgyzstan’s independence, according to Akorda.

Tokayev said the anniversary represented the Kyrgyz people’s aspirations for freedom, sovereignty and independence. He praised Kyrgyzstan’s progress in state-building and sustainable development, as well as its preservation of its spiritual heritage.

The message pointed to Kyrgyzstan’s election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for 2027 and 2028 as evidence of its standing internationally. Tokayev also described the relationship between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan as fraternal, rooted in longstanding traditions of friendship and good-neighborly relations.

This significant date symbolizes the Kyrgyz people’s aspiration for freedom, sovereignty and independence.

He expressed confidence that the countries’ strategic partnership and alliance would continue to develop, and wished Japarov success in his duties and the Kyrgyz people prosperity and well-being.

Kyrgyzstan declared independence on August 31, 1991, after the Supreme Council adopted the decision. The date is observed as the country’s main national holiday with a public holiday, mass events and a concert in Bishkek.
