Toll Road Area Engulfed by Forest Fire, Flames Approach Settlements

Forest and land fires (karhutla) have broken out again in Ibul Besar I Village, Pemulutan District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra, on Sunday evening, July 26, 2026.

The fires, originating near the Kramasan Toll Gate, have reportedly spread and are now approaching residential areas, raising concerns among local residents.

Joint teams, including Manggala Agni Daops Sumatera XIV-Banyuasin, the South Sumatra Provincial Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), the Ogan Ilir Regency BPBD, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the National Police (Polri), are engaged in intensive firefighting efforts.

Their primary focus is on the fire fronts closest to the residents' homes, aiming to prevent the blaze from encroaching further and to protect the community.

Thick smoke has enveloped the affected area, indicating the severity of the situation. Firefighters are continuing their efforts to extinguish the flames and cool down the land to ensure that the fire does not reach the settlements and to prevent the emergence of new hotspots.
