Top LA Diabetes Doctor Shen Yang Joins China's Westlake University

Westlake University in Hangzhou has announced a significant addition to its medical faculty with the recruitment of Dr. Shen Yang, a highly regarded endocrinologist from Los Angeles. Dr. Shen, who brings over 16 years of clinical experience in the United States, is the first faculty member at Westlake's school of medicine to hold a U.S. medical license.

Her credentials include board certifications in internal medicine and endocrinology, along with a successful practice in Southern California. For several consecutive years, Dr. Shen was recognized as a "top endocrinologist in LA" by Los Angeles Magazine, an honor nominated by her peers and selected from thousands of physicians in the region.

Dr. Shen's path to medicine was unconventional. She initially studied sociology as an undergraduate at Fudan University in Shanghai, drawn to community work during a period of social transformation in China in the late 1990s. Her decision to pursue a medical career in the U.S. marked a significant shift, culminating in her current role at Westlake University.
