Tractor-trailer carrying Lexus cars catches fire on Hanoi-Haiphong Expressway

A tractor-trailer transporting five Lexus vehicles erupted in flames on the Hanoi-Haiphong Expressway in Vietnam on August 8, 2026. The incident occurred near Nguyen Van Linh commune in Hung Yen province as the truck was heading towards Hanoi.

The fire reportedly started in the rear tire area of the tractor-trailer. The driver immediately pulled the vehicle into the emergency lane and attempted to combat the flames with a fire extinguisher. When these efforts proved unsuccessful, the driver continued driving the burning truck for over a kilometer to a rest stop.

At the V23 rest stop, other individuals present assisted with water hoses to fight the fire. While no one was injured in the incident, at least three of the Lexus cars on the trailer sustained significant damage from the blaze.

Operators of the expressway stated that the fire did not disrupt traffic. Firefighters have since controlled the flames, and relevant authorities, including traffic police and Hung Yen provincial police, are investigating the cause of the incident.
