Tragedy in Nasca: 13 killed in tourist plane crash

A tourist plane crashed and burned in Peru's Nasca province on August 1, killing all 13 individuals on board. The aircraft, belonging to the company Aerodiana, had taken off from Pisco airport for a sightseeing flight over the Nazca Lines and Geoglyphs.

The Nasca Provincial Municipality confirmed the deaths in a statement, expressing condolences to the families and offering support for response efforts. The Directorate General of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC) is overseeing the investigation into the accident, which occurred around 12:55 p.m. in the Pueblo Viejo sector.

Local authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims, but a National Police agent confirmed the group consisted of 11 passengers and two crew members, likely a pilot and co-pilot or guide. DGAC inspector William Acosta stated that experts from Lima would arrive to conduct a thorough investigation. Firefighters at the scene reported the aircraft was a Cessna Caravan 201B. Aerodiana indicated it would issue a statement regarding the incident.
