Tragic Accident in Igoumenitsa: 75-Year-Old Dies in Wreckage – His Wife Injured

Ta Nea reports with deep sorrow on a tragic traffic accident that has claimed a life on the national road near Igoumenitsa. The collision, which occurred under circumstances still under investigation by the Hellenic Police, resulted in the death of a 75-year-old man and left his wife and the driver of the second vehicle injured.

Our emergency services, including the Fire Department of Igoumenitsa and the 5th EMAK from Ioannina, alongside EKAV ambulance crews and police, responded swiftly to the scene. Firefighters worked to extricate the trapped individuals from the wreckage. Despite their best efforts, the 75-year-old driver could not be saved.

The 78-year-old passenger, the victim's wife, was assisted out of the vehicle by rescuers and transported to the hospital for treatment. The 56-year-old driver of the other car was also injured and taken to a local hospital. The Hellenic Police are now investigating the exact causes of this devastating incident.
