Tragic incident in Van: Father drowns after saving wife and child from river

A tragic incident unfolded in Van's Muradiye district where a father lost his life after bravely rescuing his wife and child from a swift current. The family had gathered for a picnic at the Balık Bendi recreational area when the alarming event occurred.

According to reports, the wife and child were unexpectedly swept into the water for reasons yet to be determined. Without hesitation, the father plunged into the river, successfully saving his wife and child from the dangerous currents. Emergency health teams were called to the scene and provided initial medical attention to the mother and child before transporting them to a hospital.

However, the father was also caught by the strong currents and disappeared from view. A search operation was immediately launched, involving AFAD, gendarmerie, health, and Polis Arama Kurtarma (PAK) teams. After a thorough search, the body of the father was recovered. His remains were taken to the Muradiye State Hospital morgue following an examination at the scene. While the mother and child are reportedly recovering at the hospital, an investigation into the incident has been initiated.
