Trelawny Mayor rejects claims Gov’t responsible for Coopers Pen eviction

Mayor of Falmouth and chairman of the Trelawny Municipal Corporation, Colin Gager, has strongly refuted allegations that the Jamaican government is responsible for an eviction exercise in Coopers Pen, Trelawny. The eviction reportedly displaced 20 families.

In a press release, Mayor Gager asserted that bloggers associated with the People's National Party have spread false information, attempting to blame the government for the eviction. He clarified that the exercise was conducted by a private developer who legally owns the land and has been involved in a protracted court dispute with some of the residents.
