Troops foil kidnap attempts, rescue Zamfara polytechnic rector

Troops in Nigeria's Zamfara State have successfully thwarted several kidnapping attempts, rescuing the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, and a group of civilians. The operations, conducted by the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, demonstrated a swift response to terrorist activities.

In one incident, attackers invaded the residence of Rector Dr. Aminu Yusuf, killing his private security guard and injuring another resident before attempting to abduct him and his family. Troops arrived quickly, engaging the assailants and forcing them to flee, thereby rescuing the rector and his family unharmed.

Simultaneously, in separate operations within the same region, troops responded to distress calls from Tungan Dorawa community. They pursued and engaged terrorists attempting to abduct a prominent businessman, Alhaji Azaria, and also rescued 21 other civilians taken from neighboring houses. During these operations, a suspected terrorist informant, Falalu Yusuf, was arrested.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA praised the troops' vigilance and professionalism, reiterating its dedication to restoring peace and security across Zamfara State and the broader North-West region of Nigeria.
