Troops identify wanted ISWAP leaders operating around Lake Chad Basin

Troops operating under Operation HADIN KAI have successfully identified senior leaders and key operatives of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), also known as ISIS, in the Lake Chad Basin area. This breakthrough comes after a series of successful offensive operations conducted by the troops in Northern Borno State.

The identified terrorist leaders are considered high-value targets. Among those pinpointed is Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, who reportedly holds the position of Wali, or governor, for ISIS in the region. The identification marks a significant intelligence gain for the military in its ongoing counter-insurgency efforts.

These operations are part of a broader strategy to dismantle the ISWAP network, which has been a persistent security challenge in northeastern Nigeria and surrounding areas. By identifying and targeting leadership, the military aims to disrupt the group's command structure, logistics, and overall operational capacity in the Lake Chad Basin.
