President Donald Trump asserted his administration's "total control" over the Strait of Hormuz, warning Iran against any actions that could provoke a forceful response. Speaking to the media, Trump accused Tehran of dishonesty, stating, "I'm the last person who trusts Iran. They've lied to me constantly."

Iranian state broadcaster Press TV reported that Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaei countered that the Strait of Hormuz has remained open since ancient times and criticized Western sanctions as "dishonourable and unjust." Baqaei also blamed "US-Israeli aggression" for the situation, asserting that Iran has not imposed conditions on transit.
