Trump mourns death of King Harald V: 'A great loss!'

Donald Trump has expressed his condolences following the death of King Harald V of Norway. The former U.S. president described the late monarch as a "strong, proud, and deeply respected man" and called his passing "truly a great loss."

Trump shared his sentiments on his social media platform, Truth Social, stating, "It is very sad to learn of the passing of King Harald of Norway. He loved his country and was truly loved and respected by his people."

He added, "Our hearts are with the Royal Family and all of Norway during this difficult time." The Royal House of Norway confirmed the king's death, noting he passed away peacefully at the National Hospital in Oslo. He had been admitted on August 17 for anemia, but his condition worsened over the weekend due to a blood infection.

King Harald V ascended to the throne in 1991 and enjoyed significant popularity, with approval ratings often exceeding 70%. His eldest son, Crown Prince Haakon, 53, automatically becomes the new head of state. The new king has chosen the regnal name Haakon VIII and is scheduled to take his oath to the constitution before the Storting, Norway's parliament, next Tuesday.
