Trump: US completely controls Strait of Hormuz

Former U.S. President Donald Trump asserted that the United States holds complete control over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for international energy transport. "We completely control the Strait of Hormuz. We control it; nobody else, only us," Trump told reporters, emphasizing his administration's dominance over the vital waterway.

Trump also voiced a strong lack of confidence in Iran, stating, "I am the last person who would trust Iran. They have lied to me constantly. And now we completely control the Strait of Hormuz. They do not control it."

The ongoing dispute over transit rights in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important routes for transporting oil, gas, and fertilizers globally, is identified as a primary cause of escalating military conflict between Washington and Tehran. Shipping traffic through the strait had been largely unimpeded before U.S. and Israeli attacks against Iran began on February 28.
