TS-LKD approves its 2027 local election program

Lithuania's TS-LKD party has approved its program for the 2027 municipal elections, asking each local branch to present residents with five specific commitments.

The commitments are intended to cover concrete projects with clear deadlines, budgets and responsible officials. The program also sets out 10 main principles for local government and says managers of municipal companies and institutions should be chosen for their abilities rather than political loyalty.

TS-LKD identifies four broad priorities: security and crisis preparedness, family-friendly municipal services, lower bills and efficient administration, and an environment that supports work and business. The party plans to increase the number of shelters and establish local resilience centers.

The program also promises a kindergarten place for every child and calls for an expanded network of all-day schools. It proposes reducing energy waste, developing local energy production and renovating buildings that consume large amounts of energy. Other commitments include more transparent waste management and business-friendly infrastructure in municipalities.

The party said an easy-to-read version was prepared with an artificial-intelligence tool developed by researchers at Vytautas Magnus University in cooperation with the ELTA news agency. Editors checked and approved the text.
