Tumbes: Criminals Arrive by Speedboat in Puerto Pizarro, Threaten Police

Puerto Pizarro, Peru, is grappling with a severe surge in criminal activity as heavily armed individuals arrive via speedboats, directly threatening law enforcement and terrorizing the local population. General PNP José Luis Quiróz Dávila, head of the Tumbes Police Region, confirmed that military reinforcements from the Navy have been requested to bolster patrols and criminal investigations.

The threat is particularly acute from the criminal organization 'Los Lobos,' which has reportedly vowed to eliminate police officers in the area. Authorities are analyzing video recordings published by the criminal group, which will be sent to the central Dirincri headquarters in Lima for technical analysis. The local police station currently has 44 officers, augmented by 10 from the National Special Operations Directorate (DINOES) and 23 involved in 'Plan Celador,' maintaining 24-hour surveillance in the border city.

Intelligence indicates that these criminals utilize fast boats, often with twin outboard motors, to rapidly cross borders and evade controls. "Security incidents have been reported where armed subjects arrive from the Ecuadorian side aboard speedboats, storming Puerto Pizarro and causing alerts due to the violation of sovereign perimeters," stated an official. This movement occurs amidst a fierce territorial dispute, with some audiovisual material suggesting potential collaboration between corrupt police officers and a criminal band known as 'Los Guantes Box.'

Residents, fishermen, and business owners express deep concern over the rising crime, reporting constant threats and extortion, creating an atmosphere of fear. The situation was recently highlighted by the murder of Juan Pazo Chunga, known as 'gorra de cachaco,' in Puerto Pizarro. Preliminary information suggests the crime is linked to a dispute between criminal organizations operating in the area, possibly involving the 'Los Guantes Box' gang, though sicarios from 'Los Lobos Nueva Generación' are reportedly the ones threatening the police.
