Turkey Braces for Cooler Weather as Temperatures Drop

Turkey is bracing for a noticeable shift in weather as temperatures are set to drop significantly in the northern, inland, and western parts of the country starting Friday. This cooling trend follows a period where temperatures have been exceeding seasonal norms.

According to Fevzi Burak Tekin, a weather forecast expert at the General Directorate of Meteorology of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the expected rainfall will broaden its impact from Friday onwards. Showers and thunderstorms are anticipated across a wide area, particularly in Central Anatolia, the Black Sea region, Eastern Anatolia, and the Eastern Mediterranean.

Starting Friday, we expect a significant decrease in air temperatures in the northern, inland, and western parts of the country.

Tekin detailed the forecast for the coming days: Wednesday will see local showers and thunderstorms in areas like the Eastern Black Sea, parts of the Eastern Mediterranean, and some eastern provinces. Thursday's forecast includes rain and thunderstorms in the northeastern Black Sea, parts of Eastern Anatolia, Thrace, and the Taurus Mountains region of the Mediterranean.

Over the weekend, the precipitation is expected to continue across much of the country. Saturday's forecast indicates rain and thunderstorms in Central Anatolia, the Black Sea, Eastern Anatolia, and the Eastern Mediterranean, with similar conditions expected for Sunday in these regions, as well as western parts of Southeastern Anatolia. This change marks a transition from the recent warm spell to more unsettled, cooler weather.

Starting Friday, the area of influence of rainy weather will expand, and showers and thunderstorms will be effective in Central Anatolia, the Black Sea, Eastern Anatolia, and the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as the east of Marmara and the north and west of Eastern Anatolia.
