Turkish acting pride in Venice: Alp Navruz named Best International Actor

Alp Navruz brought Turkish acting into the spotlight in Venice, where he won the Best International Actor award at the 25th Kineo Awards.

The 36-year-old actor received the prize at a ceremony held at Casa Cinema Giovani for his role in the television series “Ada Masalı.” He also met Hollywood actor Faye Dunaway during the event.

Dunaway, known for films including “Bonnie and Clyde,” “Network” and “Chinatown,” received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Actor and producer Nicola Peltz won the Rising Star Award for her work in acting, producing and directing. The report said Dunaway and Peltz will appear together in “Prima,” directed by Alessandro and Luca Morelli.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another” was named Best International Film. Other winners included Chiara Francini for Best Actress, Maria Gifuni for Best Supporting Actress, Raniero Monaco di Lapio for Best Actor in a Series, Sara Lazzaro for Best Actress in a Series and Paolo Calvano for Best Young Actor. Mexican actor Oka Giner also received an award in the international cinema category.
