Türkiye extends humanitarian aid to Boko Haram victims in Adamawa

Türkiye has significantly amplified its humanitarian assistance to those impacted by the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria's Adamawa State. The nation has dispatched 36 tons of vital food aid, specifically directed towards internally displaced persons who have suffered from the relentless attacks.

This crucial intervention, orchestrated by Türkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), is being executed in close collaboration with the United Nations. The primary beneficiaries are the residents of the Malkohi Internally Displaced Persons Camp, situated near Yola, who have been forced from their homes by the violence.

During the distribution, Türkiye's Ambassador to Nigeria, Mehmet Poroy, emphasized his country's unwavering dedication to aiding vulnerable communities across Nigeria. Ambassador Poroy also noted that Türkiye's support extends beyond immediate relief, contributing to Nigeria's broader strategies for tackling its persistent security issues.

Officials from Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) lauded the donation as both timely and impactful, underscoring its significance for the well-being of the camp's inhabitants. This latest initiative from Türkiye further solidifies its expanding humanitarian presence throughout Africa, where it actively supports civilians caught in the crossfire of conflict and terrorism. The aid delivery, coordinated by AFAD, is a key component of Ankara's extensive humanitarian diplomacy and complements the ongoing United Nations-led efforts in the region.
