Two arrested for stealing school's electrical cables, causing RM50,000 loss

Police in Teluk Intan have arrested two men in connection with the theft of electrical cables from a school in Chenderong Balai, resulting in an estimated loss of RM50,000. The school's representative reported the incident last Wednesday after discovering the cables had been cut and stolen from the school block area.

Acting on intelligence and investigation, a police team apprehended the two suspects early this morning around 3:30 AM. During questioning, the suspects led police to the recovery of several items believed to be linked to the crime, including cable-cutting equipment, electrical cables, and a vehicle.

The suspects were presented at the Teluk Intan Magistrate's Court today and have been remanded until August 17 to facilitate further investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to seven years in prison, a fine, or both upon conviction.

District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Chua Kok Lian advised schools, property owners, and the public to enhance security measures, particularly for electrical cables, which are frequent targets for thieves. He also urged the public to report any criminal activities to the police for prompt action.
