Two killed in traffic accident in Los Ríos, Dominican Republic

A pickup truck struck and killed an adult and a young child while they were sitting on a median strip in Los Ríos, Dominican Republic. A woman was also injured in the Wednesday morning collision and is in critical condition at Salvador B. Gautier Hospital.

Witnesses reported that the red, double-cab pickup truck lost control and drove onto the sidewalk, hitting the victims. Security camera footage from the area shows the vehicle speeding and mounting the curb.

Emergency services, including the National System for Emergencies and Security Attention 9-1-1 and traffic police, responded to the scene. The injured woman received initial aid at Clínica Independencia Norte before being transferred to the hospital.

The driver of the truck sustained a minor head injury and was apprehended by police. He claimed to have lost control of the vehicle, but authorities have not officially confirmed the cause of the accident. The investigation is ongoing.
