Two Nearly 100-Year-Old Women in Vietnam Awarded 80-Year Party Membership Medals

In recognition of their lifelong dedication, two centenarian women in Vietnam's Lam Dong province have been honored with the prestigious 80-year Party membership medal. Ms. Le Thi Duc, 97, and Ms. Lam Thi Xuan Mai, 99, received the medals from the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee as part of the celebrations for the 81st anniversary of Vietnam's National Day on September 2.

Ms. Le Thi Duc, born in 1929 in Ha Tinh province, joined the Party on January 23, 1948, and became a full member on February 20, 1949. Her revolutionary activities began early, serving in various roles including as an executive committee member of the Women's Union and deputy commander of a guerrilla team during the resistance periods. She later participated in land reform and worked in trade organizations before settling in Lam Dong province in 1994.

Ms. Lam Thi Xuan Mai, born in 1927 in Lam Dong province, joined the Party on June 7, 1948, and was recognized as a full member on June 7, 1949. Her career included work with the Women's Union in Binh Thuan province and the Hanoi agricultural product import-export company, where she held the position of Party cell secretary. She served as deputy head of the Phan Thiet city trade department before retiring in March 1982.

During the award ceremony, Y Thanh Ha Niê Kđăm, Secretary of the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, highlighted the significance of the 80-year medal as a symbol of the Party's recognition of long-term commitment and contribution. He noted that across Lam Dong province, 4,212 Party members are being honored this year, with Ms. Duc and Ms. Mai being the only two to receive the 80-year medal. He urged Party committees to continue supporting and learning from the experiences of these veteran members, emphasizing their role in educating younger generations about revolutionary traditions.
