Two separate collisions disrupt Bogor, Tangerang commuter lines in Jakarta

Commuter train services in Jakarta faced major disruptions Thursday morning due to two separate incidents, causing delays and cancellations. Ten Bogor Commuter Line services were delayed by over an hour, with two others canceled, after Commuter Line No. 1183, traveling from Bogor to Jakarta Kota, struck a person on the Pasar Minggu-Manggarai rail line. The affected train required evacuation for repairs, disrupting services on a key commuter route.

Simultaneously, eight Tangerang Commuter Line services were delayed up to 48 minutes. This occurred when Commuter Line No. 1914, en route from Duri to Tangerang, collided with a motorcycle at an unauthorized crossing between Rawabuaya and Batu Ceper stations. The impact damaged the train's front driver's cabin.

For safety reasons, the train had to be evacuated using a rescue train and taken to the Bukit Duri train depot for repairs.

KAI Commuter Vice President of Corporate Secretary Karina Amanda stated the company will continue collaborating with local authorities and community leaders to enhance rail safety and prevent future incidents. KAI Commuter Director Purnomo Sidi explained that the Bogor train's braking system sustained damage to an air pipe after hitting a person. For safety, it was evacuated and taken to the Bukit Duri train depot for repairs, leading to temporary single-track operations on the Pasar Minggu-Manggarai section.

To reduce delays, Commuter Line services on the route were temporarily operated on a single track.

KAI Commuter has apologized for the passenger delays on both lines. The company urged the public to prioritize safety, obey railway personnel instructions, and refrain from walking along or crossing railway tracks. They also advised passengers not to force their way onto overcrowded trains.
