Two sons of MACBAN chairman killed in attack on Enugu cattle camp

Two members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) were reportedly killed during an attack on a cattle camp in Oheoyya Community, Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State. The victims were identified as Ahmadu and Umaru, sons of the South-East Zonal Chairman of MACBAN, Alhaji Haruna Sale.

The incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, when unidentified assailants allegedly attacked the camp. MACBAN stated that approximately 40 cattle were also killed during the assault.

The association expressed gratitude to the Enugu State Government and security agencies for their prompt intervention, which allowed for the recovery of the deceased's bodies for Islamic burial rites. MACBAN urged security agencies to intensify their investigation to identify, arrest, and prosecute those responsible for the attack.

MACBAN reiterated that its members in the South-East are engaged in lawful cattle rearing and trading. The association appealed to residents of Enugu State to continue fostering peaceful coexistence and thanked Governor Peter Mbah, traditional rulers, community leaders, and faith-based organizations for their ongoing support. MACBAN reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful coexistence and collaboration with authorities to promote security and national unity.
