Two 'super thieves' arrested for over 20 motorcycle thefts in Quang Tri

In a swift operation, police in Dong Son ward, Quang Tri province, have apprehended two individuals suspected of a significant motorcycle theft spree. The arrests bring a measure of relief to a community that has been targeted by a string of over 20 motorcycle thefts. The suspects, identified as Pham Minh Cuong, 44, and Pham Huu Huy, 17, both residents of Dong Son ward, reportedly confessed to their crimes, citing unstable employment as their motive.

Cuong, in particular, admitted to a prolific criminal career, claiming to have stolen a total of 23 motorcycles between October 2025 and his arrest. These thefts were not confined to a single area, with 7 incidents occurring in Dong Son ward and the remaining 16 spread across other districts within the province. The duo employed sophisticated methods, frequently changing their operating locations and modes of transportation to evade law enforcement.

After receiving the report, the Dong Son Ward Police investigated. Through professional measures, in less than 24 hours of pursuit, by May 6, functional forces had identified and arrested the two suspects who committed the motorcycle theft, Pham Minh Cuong (44 years old) and Pham Huu Huy (17 years old, both residing in Dong Son ward).

However, their attempts to outsmart the authorities were ultimately unsuccessful. Following a report of a stolen motorcycle on May 5, police initiated an investigation and, within 24 hours, identified and arrested the suspects. The recovery of seven motorcycles, which are considered evidence and tools of the crime, marks a significant success for the local police. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities collaborating with the Quang Tri Provincial Police to further uncover the extent of the criminal network and ensure justice is served.

At the police station, the two suspects confessed that due to not having stable jobs, they had invited each other to steal property. Notably, Cuong confessed that from October 2025 until his arrest, he had successfully committed a total of 23 motorcycle thefts, including 7 cases committed in Dong Son ward and 16 cases in other localities in the province.
