Two suspects face life imprisonment for robbery-murder of Indonesian phone shop owner

Two individuals, identified as DPP, 20, and TI, 25, are facing potential life sentences in Indonesia for the robbery and murder of Candra Waskita, a 25-year-old phone shop owner in Ambarawa, Central Java. The Semarang Police have declared the motive for the crime to be purely economic.

During the investigation, police recovered significant evidence, including the victim's Honda Jazz car, 53 mobile phones found in the Grobogan area and inside the victim's vehicle, 68 phone boxes, and a Honda Beat motorcycle used by the perpetrators. Cash totaling Rp7,950,000 from phone sales and Rp2,000,000 from stolen phones were also seized.

From this case, we secured a number of pieces of evidence, including the victim's Honda Jazz car, 53 mobile phones found in the Grobogan area or inside the victim's car, 68 pieces or boxes of mobile phones, and a Honda Beat motorcycle driven by the perpetrators.

Both suspects have been detained at the Semarang Police headquarters. They face multiple charges under the Indonesian Criminal Code. Specifically, they are accused of "robbery with violence resulting in death, committed jointly or in conspiracy" under Article 479, Paragraph (2) letters a and/or b, as well as charges related to "preceded by, accompanied by, or followed by other criminal acts" under Article 458, Paragraph (3). The penalties for these charges include life imprisonment or a maximum of 20 years in prison.

The police conducted a crime scene investigation at the location where the victim's car was found in Dusun Tembelingan, Desa Trisari, Gubug District, Grobogan Regency. The victim, Candra Waskita, owned a phone counter in Ambarawa, Semarang Regency.

Both suspects are charged with robbery with violence resulting in death, committed jointly or in conspiracy as referred to in Article 479 Paragraph (2) letter a and or letter b of the Criminal Code. We both charge them with acts preceded by, accompanied by, or followed by other criminal acts as referred to in Article 458 Paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code with the threat of life imprisonment or a maximum prison sentence of 20 years.
