Two tornadoes touch down in southwestern Ontario amid severe storms

Southwestern Ontario experienced severe weather on Saturday, with two confirmed tornadoes touching down. The Northern Tornadoes Project, an organization that investigates tornado reports, confirmed the events late Saturday. One tornado landed near Lindsay, Ontario, and a second touched down in Woodstock.

Environment Canada had issued a tornado warning for the region, anticipating damaging winds, large hail, and intense rainfall. Both confirmed tornadoes have been preliminarily rated as EF0, the lowest category on the enhanced Fujita scale, indicating wind speeds between 65 and 85 kilometers per hour. Due to the minor damage reported, the Northern Tornadoes Project stated they are not planning to send survey teams to either location.

In Woodstock, the city reported ongoing cleanup efforts following the storm. Damage to trees on sidewalks, boulevards, and in parks is being assessed and cleared. A fence at a local cricket field was also damaged, leading to its closure on Sunday.
