U.S. Delivers Over $1 Million in Medical and Emergency Equipment to Panama

The United States, through its Southern Command, has provided Panama with over $1 million in medical and emergency response equipment. This significant donation is intended to bolster the nation's capacity to handle disasters and other situations requiring mobile medical facilities.

The delivered equipment comprises tents, chairs, containers, and portable flooring. Notably, over $375,000 of the contribution is allocated to protective casings and flooring systems designed to improve the setup and functionality of mobile hospitals utilized by Panama's Ministry of Health (Minsa) and the Social Security Fund (CSS).

We are delivering more than a million dollars in equipment. As you have seen, these are tents, chairs, containers, portable floors for the mobile units, which, if they are in the field, can have a portable floor.

U.S. Ambassador to Panama, Kevin Marino Cabrera, highlighted that the aid aims to strengthen the response capabilities of Panamanian institutions. He emphasized the U.S.'s continued commitment to supporting its partners in Panama, stating, "The United States will continue to say present to help our friends, our partners, which is the Government of Panama."

Ambassador Cabrera also revealed that the U.S. budget for security and humanitarian aid in the region has seen a substantial increase, rising from $10 million last year to $100 million this year. While he did not specify the exact distribution of these funds or the portion allocated specifically to Panama, he assured continued support.

This initiative is part of broader health and humanitarian cooperation efforts executed by the Southern Command in Panama. In addition to the equipment donation, U.S. medical teams have provided care in various public facilities throughout Panama in 2026 under the "Juntos por la Salud" (Together for Health) initiative. Previous aid includes the delivery of 4,000 pounds of medication earlier this year and ongoing work on a polyclinic in Coclecito, scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
