Ukraine and UK sign AI agreement: will share battlefield data

Ukraine and the United Kingdom have signed a groundbreaking agreement to collaborate on artificial intelligence, focusing on sharing battlefield data and expertise. The partnership aims to leverage Ukraine's operational experience with the UK's advanced AI ecosystem.

Central to the agreement is the "Avengers" data set, currently used to train autonomous Ukrainian drones. London views this data as a "gold mine" with potential applications beyond military use, including securing airports, prisons, railways, and power plants, though specific details remain undisclosed. The UK plans to test the "Avengers" data set on a British defense base to train systems for protecting against protesters and intelligence-gathering adversaries.

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, who signed the deal in Kyiv with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stated the partnership will accelerate capability development, bolstering national security and protecting vital infrastructure. This AI collaboration follows Britain's recent authorization for Kyiv to produce "Storm Shadow" missiles, long-range weapons jointly developed with France (known as SCALP there).

Britain has been a significant supporter of Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion began over four years ago, providing substantial financial and military assistance. This AI agreement signifies a deepening of that support, extending beyond conventional weaponry into cutting-edge technology.
