Ukraine drones strike Belgorod, warehouses reportedly on fire

Ukrainian drones allegedly targeted warehouse buildings and energy infrastructure in the Russian city of Belgorod early Saturday morning, according to Ukrainian newspaper The Kyiv Independent. The city, located just kilometers from the Ukrainian border, reportedly experienced explosions overnight, with several Telegram channels tracking the war indicating that logistics centers were ablaze.

Belgorod, which shares borders with Ukraine to the south and west, has been a frequent subject of cross-border incidents. Russia's state news agency Tass also reported a drone attack on Belgorod city and its surrounding region. The acting governor of Belgorod Oblast, Aleksandr Shuvaev, described the drone assault as "massive," according to Tass.

Shuvaev indicated that the attacks resulted in casualties, though Tass did not provide specific details on the exact targets hit by the drones. The proximity of Belgorod to the Ukrainian border makes it a strategically significant area in the ongoing conflict, often experiencing repercussions from the hostilities.
