UMJ Launches 'Bina Desa' Program with Solar Energy and Greening Initiatives in Cianjur

Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ) has officially launched its "Bina Desa" community service program, sending 30 students to Cianjur Regency in West Java. The students will undertake community service in the Cugenang and Sukaluyu sub-districts, areas chosen for their agricultural potential.

During the program's launch, local Muhammadiyah leaders expressed their appreciation for UMJ's involvement. Haerudin Hamid, representing the Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership (PDM) of Cianjur Regency, hoped the students would not only execute their work programs but also integrate into the community, fostering sustainable benefits. He recalled UMJ's past contributions, including a minibus donation that supports local religious and community activities.

The students will be guided by field supervisors Dina Febriani and Ummul Habibah Hasyim. Key projects for this year's "Bina Desa" program include installing solar panel lights to promote eco-friendly energy and distributing plant seedlings provided by the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry. These initiatives aim to bolster environmental resilience and improve the welfare of residents in the target areas.

Through this program, UMJ reaffirms its dedication to community service, upholding the values of Al Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan.
