UMNO leader: Reject representatives who abandon principles and trust

UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Mohd Razlan Rafii has called on the public to reject elected representatives who "sell out" their principles and the people's trust by resigning from their positions. He emphasized that serving as an elected official involves more than just financial allocations; it requires actively speaking up for and fighting for the constituents' well-being in Parliament, including debating proposed policies.

"It is very easy for elected representatives chosen by the people to resign. There are no excuses, no reasons, they resign as they please," Razlan stated in a press release. He contrasted this with the discipline within Barisan Nasional (BN), asserting that even though BN is not part of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition, they understand the gravity of matters concerning the people's interests. "When we promise until the end of the parliamentary term, we will uphold it, it is for the people's benefit, even with much political pressure on BN, today we continue to work for the people," he added.

Razlan considers the casual or dismissive treatment of parliamentary seats a serious offense to the people represented. "The people must reject them after this," he urged.

His comments came after Subang Member of Parliament Wong Chen announced his resignation from the Dewan Rakyat. Wong Chen was among five PKR MPs who had previously voiced dissatisfaction with restricted access to the MyKhas portal, used for managing area development allocations. The other four were Rodziah Ismail (Ampang), Lee Chean Chung (Petaling Jaya), S. Kesavan (Sungai Siput), and Zahir Hassan (Wangsa Maju). Previously, two former senior PKR leaders, Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, also resigned as MPs for Pandan and Setiawangsa respectively, effective May 18, before leaving PKR to join a new political platform. Rafizi was the former Minister of Economy, while Nik Nazmi was the former Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability.
