Union of Nations and Justice Confirms 13 Candidates for Municipal Mayor Races

The Union of Nations and Justice party has unveiled its slate of 13 candidates vying for mayoral seats in Lithuania's upcoming municipal elections. The party announced its nominees, who will compete in the 2027 spring elections.

Notable candidates include journalist Kristupas Krivickas, who will seek the mayoral position in the capital city of Vilnius. In Kaunas, the party has put forward Rimas Jonas Jankūnas, a member of the Seimas (Lithuanian Parliament). Former parliamentarian Naglis Puteikis is set to run in Klaipėda.

Several candidates are former mayors or local council members. Artūras Orlauskas, a municipal council member, will run in Kaunas district. Sigitas Karbauskas, a former mayor, is nominated for Klaipėda district. Valdemaras Valkiūnas, also a former mayor, will compete in Biržai. Europarliamentarian Petras Gražulis is the party's candidate in the Lazdijai district.

Other candidates include local council members and party branch leaders. Egidijus Visockas will represent the party in Prienai, Algirdas Bacevičius in Telšiai, Gediminas Lipnevičius in Radviliškis, Algimantas Birbilas in Panevėžys district, Gintautas Šimonėlis in Utena, and Edmundas Jasiūnas in Pasvalys. Valdemaras Valkiūnas has also been appointed as the head of the election headquarters.

The campaign period for these elections is set to begin in September 2026, with the elections themselves scheduled for the spring of 2027. The Union of Nations and Justice is positioning its candidates to contest leadership roles across various municipalities.
