Unisba Promotes Impactful Research and Academic Collaboration Through SPeSIA and VISION 2026

Universitas Islam Bandung (Unisba) is actively fostering its role as an impactful university by enhancing research, disseminating knowledge, and expanding academic collaborations both nationally and internationally. This commitment is being realized through the Seminar Penelitian Sivitas Akademika (SPeSIA) 2026 Batch II and the 2nd VISION 2026 events.

Themed 'Strengthening the SDGs Through Impactful Research in the Era of Artificial Intelligence,' the hybrid event was held on Tuesday (11/8/2026) at Unisba's Main Hall and online. Several institutions co-hosted the SPeSIA 2026 Batch II and 2nd VISION 2026, including Universitas Bhakti Kencana, Politeknik Al Islam Bandung, Politeknik Pajajaran, Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) Makassar, and Universitas 17 Agustus Samarinda. Holy Child College from the Philippines also participated as an international organizing partner.

Unisba Rector Harits Nu’man highlighted the evolution of SPeSIA from an internal research forum to a broader platform for students to present and share their findings. He noted that the involvement of various higher education institutions signifies the forum's growth into a bridge for national and international collaboration. "SPeSIA must be a platform for students with ideas and research results, especially from final projects, and also a space to learn how to disseminate research findings," he stated.

Rector Nu’man further stressed that the experience of conducting research and presenting it publicly equips students with essential skills for their professional lives and societal contributions. He also addressed the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in academia, viewing it as a valuable tool to expedite scholarly work but cautioning students against letting AI replace their critical thinking and academic responsibility. "Don't become AI graduates, graduates produced by Artificial Intelligence. Those studying here are not robots, but you. AI is just a tool," he advised.

According to Asnita Frida B. R. Sebayang, Unisba's Vice Rector for Learning and Student Affairs, SPeSIA serves as a crucial platform for students to develop their research capabilities and contribute to knowledge advancement, particularly in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the advancements in artificial intelligence.
