Unsoed Rector Accused of Facilitating Admissions for $1.12 Billion Bribe

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has accused the Rector of Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed), Prof. Akhmad Sodiq, of facilitating a bribery scheme for student admissions. The alleged scheme involved Sodiq granting his user ID to a subordinate, identified as ES, who managed the university's academic section.

According to KPK officials, ES used Sodiq's credentials to authorize the admission of new students who had paid a "mahar," or fee, through a collector. This negotiation and approval process allegedly occurred after Sodiq received Rp1.12 billion from the collector on the evening of August 21, 2026.

In the communication, ES, with ASO's (Sodiq's) knowledge, engaged in 'mahar bargaining.' There was a negotiation or a kind of transaction with the collector in the independent student admission process.

The investigation began with a sting operation on August 20, 2026, which led to the arrest of Sodiq, along with Vice Rector Prof. Norman Arie Prayogo and Vice Rector Prof. Kuat Puji Prayitno. The following day, the KPK named six individuals as suspects in the case. These suspects include Rector Sodiq, Vice Rector Prayogo, Sodiq's nephew (MYN), two intermediaries (DMW and AW), and ES. Vice Rector Prayitno was not named a suspect.

ASO then gave his user ID access to ES for the authorization process by clicking or giving approval in the Unsoed new student admission system.
