Upper Cisokan Hydropower Project with 4x260 MW Capacity Continues

The Upper Cisokan Pumped Storage Hydropower Project, a significant national strategic project in West Bandung, West Java, is back on track after a dispute over worker wages was settled. The project, with a capacity of 4x260 MW, had faced delays due to the payment issue, but an agreement between subcontractor PT. China Gezhouba Group Corporation (CGGC) and its workers has cleared the path for its continuation.

Katrin, Human Resources representative for PT. CGGC, confirmed that an agreement had been reached, allowing workers who had previously blocked access to the project site to resume their duties. With the access blockade lifted and operations normalized, the project is now proceeding smoothly. CGGC emphasized the importance of contractors and subcontractors fulfilling their professional obligations, including respecting workers' rights according to labor regulations, as these directly impact the livelihoods of employees and their families.

The Upper Cisokan project plays a vital role in strengthening the national electricity system's reliability. It is also part of the government's strategy to increase the share of new and renewable energy (NRE) in the energy mix, ensuring a stable electricity supply, particularly for the Java-Bali system, which is central to Indonesia's economic activity. PLN and its implementing partners are also committed to social and environmental responsibility programs for the surrounding communities.
