Uruguay’s transport ministry opens applications for 41 jobs paying $54,128 a month

Uruguay’s Ministry of Transport and Public Works has opened a call for 41 maintenance construction workers, offering a nominal monthly salary of 54,128 pesos at January 2026 values.

The positions require 48 effective working hours per week and begin under a 12-month provisional appointment. Under Law No. 19,996, workers may later receive permanent appointments to the corresponding budgeted posts.

The National Roads Directorate has 22 vacancies, the National Hydrology Directorate has nine and the National Architecture Directorate has the remaining 10. The jobs are spread across 16 departments. Colonia has seven positions, Montevideo six, Tacuarembó and Canelones four each, Paysandú and Rocha three each, and Florida two. Artigas, Cerro Largo, Durazno, Lavalleja, Maldonado, Río Negro, Salto, San José and Treinta y Tres each have one.

Workers will help prepare and distribute materials such as gravel, premixed concrete and asphalt. Their duties can also include moving, excavating, filling, framing and leveling ground, trenches and surfaces. They may install and remove temporary road signs, direct traffic when needed, and carry out masonry, painting and finishing work.

The call also includes loading, unloading and transporting materials, as well as keeping work areas clean and orderly. Completed primary education and an age limit of 45 are mandatory requirements. Applicants must provide an original medical certificate confirming physical fitness for the work. Applications are accepted through the Uruguay Concursa portal until Sept. 14.
