Utusan Malaysia journalist receives Perlis state honor

Mohd. Hafiz Abd. Mutalib, a journalist for Utusan Malaysia, has been honored with the Pingat Jasa Baik (PJB) award by the Sultan of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail. The award was presented during a ceremony held at Istana Arau as part of the Raja Perlis's 83rd birthday celebrations.

The PJB medal acknowledges Hafiz's significant contributions and achievements in journalism over his nearly two-decade career. It specifically recognizes his efforts in elevating the profile of the Perlis state through his written works. Hafiz, a father of three, has dedicated his career to reporting on Perlis, focusing on its development and tourism promotion.

I pay my respects for the medal awarded by the Raja Perlis. This recognition injects spirit into me to continue producing quality writings for the benefit of the entire society and the state.

During the ceremony, which was attended by the Raja Perempuan Perlis, Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Almarhum Tengku Abdul Rashid, and other royal family members and state officials, Hafiz received the award from Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin. He expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating that the award motivates him to continue producing quality writing for the benefit of society and the state.

Hafiz also extended his thanks to Utusan Malaysia, the state government, and all parties who have supported his journalistic endeavors. In total, 246 individuals were conferred state honors and medals across various categories, including Darjah Seri Sirajuddin Perlis (SSP), Darjah Ahli Mahkota Perlis (AMP), Pingat Mahkota Perlis (PMP), Pingat Pekerti Terpilih (PPT), Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK), PJB, and Pingat Perkhidmatan Lama (PPL).
