Malaysian group backs government's stance against foreign interference

The Himpunan Gerakan Islam Malaysia (Hikam) has declared its full support for the Malaysian government's resolute position in defending the nation's sovereignty against any form of foreign interference. This backing aligns with statements made by the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Dr. Zulkifli Hasan.

Hikam asserts that Malaysia, as a sovereign nation, has the right to determine its foreign policy based on the Federal Constitution, national interests, universal principles of justice, and international law. The organization views any external pressure aimed at influencing Malaysia's stance as a violation of the principle of mutual respect in international relations.

The group interprets Malaysia's support for the Palestinian cause as a clear manifestation of the country's commitment to humanitarian values, justice, and human rights. Hikam believes Malaysia is entitled to maintain this position, consistent with its independent, neutral, and principled foreign policy. They cite a verse from the Quran (Surah al-Ma'idah: 8) emphasizing that hatred of a people should not lead to injustice and that justice is closer to piety.

Furthermore, Hikam calls upon all Malaysians to reinforce their unity and collectively defend the nation's dignity, freedom, and sovereignty. They stress that political differences should not undermine national unity or the defense of universal human principles. The organization also urges all countries to respect the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other nations, as outlined in the United Nations Charter, advocating for international relations to be built on dialogue, mutual respect, and cooperation.

Hikam reiterates its support for the government's efforts to safeguard national sovereignty and its ongoing role as a consistent voice advocating for peace, justice, and human rights internationally.
