Valtteri Bottas Qualifies for Gravel Cycling World Championships

Finnish Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas has secured a place in the Gravel Cycling World Championships. The 36-year-old racer competed in a UCI Gravel World Series event in Hlinsko, Czech Republic, on Saturday.

Bottas finished fifth in the men's 35–39 age category, earning him a spot in the upcoming world championships. He shared the news on his Instagram account, humorously noting, "Meanwhile, others are relaxing on their ships," a jab at his fellow F1 drivers who are currently on their summer break.

"I finished fifth in the men's 35-39 age category and secured a spot in the gravel World Championships. Thanks for the huge encouragement on yesterday's tough course. I loved every moment!" Bottas posted. He also expressed gratitude to his partner, Tiffany Cromwell, an Australian professional cyclist, for sharing the experience with him. Cromwell finished seventh in her own category.

The UCI Gravel World Series is a global competition organized by the International Cycling Union, with the top 25% of participants in each age group qualifying for the World Championships. This year's championships are scheduled for October 10–11 in Nannup, Australia. However, Bottas's participation remains uncertain as the event coincides with the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Singapore, which he is expected to attend.
