Vietnam border guards seize over 210 kg of explosives from Laos

Vietnamese border guards in Quang Tri province have successfully dismantled a smuggling ring, seizing more than 210 kilograms of explosives. The operation, codenamed QT326.2, targeted the illegal transport of explosive materials from Laos into Vietnam through the Quang Tri border area for distribution within the country.

During the second phase of the operation, on August 7, border guards apprehended Nguyen Duy Khanh, 46, in the Trường Sơn commune. Khanh was caught with 68 kg of explosives in two bags, along with a motorcycle and a mobile phone. Following his arrest, Khanh voluntarily surrendered an additional 67 kg of explosives, six homemade mines weighing 1 kg, two cylindrical explosive bars totaling 0.3 kg, and seven detonators.

This arrest followed an earlier bust on July 23, during the first phase of the operation, where Hồ Văn Ngọc Trường was apprehended with 74 kg of explosives. In total, the QT326.2 operation led to the capture of two individuals and the confiscation of over 210 kg of various explosive materials. All evidence has been documented and sealed. The suspects, along with the seized items and vehicles, have been transferred to the Làng Mơ Border Guard Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
