Vietnam has officially kicked off its national "Humanitarian Month" for 2026, a significant initiative launched alongside the observance of International Red Cross and Red Crescent Day. This annual event serves as a powerful reminder of the nation's deeply ingrained values of compassion and mutual support, encapsulated in traditional sayings like "cherish others as you cherish yourself" and "the sound cloth shelters the torn."

Bùi Thị Minh Hoài, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, highlighted the profound political, social, and humanitarian significance of the month. She emphasized that these deeply rooted values have been instrumental in helping Vietnam overcome numerous challenges throughout its history of building and defending the nation. The initiative seeks to further propagate this spirit of solidarity across all segments of society.

During the launch, significant directives were issued to the Vietnam Red Cross. Hoài called for a more proactive approach in refining humanitarian strategies, ensuring they align seamlessly with a modern, inclusive, and sustainable social security system. This includes professionalizing humanitarian activities, innovating resource mobilization, and fostering a modern humanitarian ecosystem that effectively connects the state, businesses, international organizations, and the community.
