Vietnam's 'Farmer Support' Program Empowers Rural Households with Loans and Education Aid

This initiative, which has spanned over 16 years, focuses on providing crucial financial and technical support to farming households facing hardship, particularly those with children who are excelling academically despite difficult circumstances. This year's iteration in Phước Vinh commune saw 40 families receive interest-free loans totaling VND 1.12 billion. This significant sum, spread over two years, includes not only direct financial aid but also vital support in the form of livestock feed. This targeted assistance is designed to help these families establish and grow their agricultural ventures, creating a stable foundation for their future. The emphasis on women, who constitute 95% of the beneficiaries, reflects a strategic focus on empowering female heads of households, who often play a pivotal role in both family economics and child-rearing.

The "Tiếp sức nhà nông" program's success is evident in its impressive track record. To date, it has successfully provided capital to 2,780 farming households, with a remarkable repayment rate exceeding 95%. Beyond financial aid, GREENFEED has invested in the community's future by awarding 4,419 scholarships and conducting 58 advanced livestock farming technique workshops. This comprehensive support system, which includes ongoing technical guidance and a revolving fund mechanism, ensures that the impact of the program continues to grow, benefiting not only the immediate recipients but also future generations of farmers.
