Vietnam's Healthcare System Handles Over 316,000 Medical Cases During National Holiday

During the recent national holiday commemorating the Liberation Day (April 30) and International Workers' Day (May 1), Vietnam's healthcare sector demonstrated its capacity to manage a significant surge in patient load. The Ministry of Health reported that medical facilities nationwide provided care for over 316,800 individuals seeking examinations and emergency treatment throughout the extended break.

This figure highlights the critical role of healthcare services, especially during periods of increased public activity and potential for accidents. The data indicates a substantial number of hospitalizations, with 31,002 patients admitted for inpatient care and 2,308 cases requiring transfer to other facilities. Despite the high volume, the system managed to maintain a steady flow, with 22,252 patients discharged after treatment.

Notably, the number of traffic accident cases did not show a significant spike, a positive sign given the holiday travel patterns. The healthcare system's resilience was further underscored by the continuous operation of all four levels of medical facilities, ensuring that critical and severe cases received immediate attention. As of May 3, 250,594 patients were still undergoing treatment, including 3,617 in serious or critical condition.
