Vietnam Social Insurance Warns Public of Scams Impersonating Surveys

The Vietnam Social Insurance (VSI) agency is urging the public to exercise extreme caution against sophisticated phishing attempts. Citizens have been targeted with fraudulent emails, text messages, phone calls, and links that falsely claim to be part of official surveys. These scams aim to steal personal information, One-Time Passwords (OTP), or even assets.

The VSI is currently conducting a survey to assess customer satisfaction with its social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance policies in 2026. This initiative seeks to gather objective feedback from organizations and individuals to improve service quality and administrative procedures within the agency.

To combat potential fraud, the VSI has outlined specific guidelines for identifying official communications. Survey emails will only come from the address thongbao@baohiemxahoi.gov.vn and must be accompanied by a notification of resolved administrative procedures. If an email solely contains a survey link without this notification, it is not legitimate. For those interacting in person, official QR codes will be displayed at VSI service centers. Communications via Zalo, Fanpage, or the hotline will originate from verified VSI channels, including the email tttruyenthong@vss.gov.vn, official social media accounts, or calls from a recognized "BHXHVN" Brandname number.

The agency strongly emphasizes that all survey participation is free. VSI will never request payment, ask individuals to install new applications, demand OTP codes, bank account details, or any form of money transfer. They advise the public to ignore any such requests and immediately report suspicious activities to the nearest VSI office. The survey is scheduled to run in multiple phases from late July to mid-September 2026.
