Vietnamese teen charged with murder over fatal stabbing

A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder in Vietnam's Quang Ngai province after allegedly stabbing another teenager to death during a personal dispute. The provincial police's Criminal Investigation Department has initiated legal proceedings against A Thieu, who is accused of killing 18-year-old A.H.

The fatal confrontation reportedly took place on the evening of July 21. According to initial investigations, A Thieu lay in wait for A.H. on an inter-village road, armed with a knife. When A.H. rode past on his motorbike, A Thieu attacked him, inflicting severe injuries. Despite being rushed to a hospital by locals, A.H. succumbed to his wounds due to their severity.

Following the incident, the Criminal Investigation Department collaborated with other units and local police to secure the crime scene, gather evidence, and pursue the suspect. A Thieu surrendered to authorities the next morning, on July 22. Based on the collected evidence and his confession, the police have formally charged him with murder and temporarily detained him for further investigation and legal processing. The Quang Ngai police used the case to issue a public advisory, particularly to young people, emphasizing the importance of legal compliance, healthy lifestyles, emotional control, and lawful conflict resolution, warning that violence or the use of weapons can lead to severe consequences.
