Tôi tự nhủ mình phải cố gắng thành công không chỉ cho bản thân mà còn cho những người đã không có cơ hội giống mình. Điều tôi sợ nhất không phải là sống xa nhà hay phải tự lập mà chính là sợ thất bại vì như thế đã phụ sự hy sinh của gia đình. Cảm giác trách nhiệm đó vẫn luôn là động lực lớn nhất thúc đẩy tôi đến hôm nay.

Arriving in Australia at the tender age of 16 with limited English and financial resources, Nhi's story is one of profound self-reliance. She immediately sought employment, facing numerous rejections due to her language barrier before securing a position in a Vietnamese restaurant. This initial struggle only fueled her resolve, leading her to take on over a dozen different jobs, from a bakery assistant and nanny to a convenience store clerk and real estate assistant, all while pursuing her education.

Ngay ngày hôm sau khi đến Úc, tôi đã đi tìm việc vì biết rằng mình phải tự lo cho bản thân. Vốn tiếng Anh còn yếu nên tôi chỉ dám vào các nhà hàng Việt Nam để hỏi việc. Tôi tìm đến khoảng chục nhà hàng và đều bị từ chối vì tiếng Anh tệ quá!

Nhi attributes her strength and work ethic to her upbringing, particularly the influence of her grandmother and aunt. Her aunt's personal sacrifices, foregoing marriage and children to support the family's business and enable Nhi's move to Australia, weigh heavily on her. Tôi sống với bà từ năm 6 tuổi sau khi ba mẹ ly hôn. Bà là người nuôi dạy và có ảnh hưởng lớn nhất đến con người tôi. Hai bà cháu thường thức lúc 5h đi chợ mua đồ nấu ăn cho gia đình. Tôi chỉ nghĩ đó là sinh hoạt bình thường mà mãi sau này mới hiểu bà đang dạy tôi về trách nhiệm và sự chăm chỉ.
