Villarrica plans to restore historic silo and former train station grounds

Villarrica's municipality is embarking on an ambitious project to revitalize a historic silo and the grounds of its former train station. The initiative aims to transform these heritage sites into a significant tourist and cultural draw for the city.

The plan is to preserve the heritage of the city and promote it as a tourist attraction.

The plan involves not only restoring the silo, which is recognized as a National Cultural Heritage site, but also enhancing its surroundings with features like light installations. The municipality is actively seeking collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) and the National Secretariat of Culture to formalize the restoration process.

The project contemplates not only the restoration and painting of the silo, but also the improvement of the immediate surroundings.

Furthermore, the project extends to the adjacent former train station. Conversations with Ferrocarriles del Paraguay SA (Fepasa) are progressing to potentially bring a locomotive and install rails on the premises. This integration of the silo and railway elements is intended to create a cohesive tourist circuit that celebrates Villarrica's historical connection to the railway system.

The intention is that both elements can be integrated into a tourist and cultural circuit that allows the recovery of part of the memory linked to the old railway system.
