Vilnius to Host Free Fashion Event Featuring 25 International Talents

Vilnius is set to host a significant free fashion event showcasing the work of 25 international emerging designers on August 28th. This event, a highlight of "Sustainable Fashion Week Vilnius," aims to solidify the city's reputation as a vital launchpad for young talent in the fashion industry.

Indrė Jakaitytė-Gandžumian, the festival director, expressed enthusiasm for the growing quality of submissions each year, noting the increased responsibility for the selection committee. "We want to provide as many opportunities as possible for young creators, so this year audiences can expect more collections than ever before – a particularly impressive spectacle, full of unexpected interpretations of sustainability," she stated.

The festival, now in its seventh year, provides a crucial platform for many designers, often recent art academy graduates, to present their collections to a wider audience and industry professionals, opening doors for their future careers. Sergej Gandžumian, the creative director, emphasized the high caliber of work expected, even from young designers. "Although the collection authors are young designers, mostly recent graduates from art academies, audiences will see truly interesting works, creatively strong ideas, and original execution. Moreover, this year we will have several returning designers – we will be able to see how they have improved over time. I have no doubt that we will hear about more than one of these authors again in the future," he said.

"Sustainable Fashion Week Vilnius" runs from August 25th to 28th. The program includes creative workshops with VilniusTECH on August 25th-26th, followed by the "Sustainable Fashion Summit Vilnius" conference on August 27th, featuring educational events, professional discussions, and a masterclass by makeup artist Sebastian Gradzik. The main event, the open-air runway show at Vilnius Town Hall Square on August 28th, will traditionally mark the beginning of Vilnius Fashion Week.
